The Weather Station released their first album The Line in 2009. It would prove to be their most traditional piece, and did not push the boundaries of folk like the bulk of their later work. The band gained more robust attention for their next album All of It Was Mine, which enlisted the help of Canadian poet and designer Daniel Romano. From this point on The Weather Station moved in a more conceptual direction, continuing to draw from influences outside of music. 2013 saw the band nominated for the SOCAN Songwriting Prize for their efforts on the song “Mule in the Flowers.”

The band often collaborates with artists from different genres, most notably with Steve Lambke and Afie Jurvanen. Jurvanen helped The Weather Station produce their popular third album, Loyalty.
